Introduction

General Description

Wozterm is one in a suite of three applications, designed to simplify interaction with telephone exchanges.

Wozterm

Wozterm (Windows Ozterm) is a Windows terminal emulation program designed specifically for interaction with telephone exchanges. Using the OVM script language as a base, Wozterm caters for access to AXE and System 12 exchanges.

Although the change from a DOS to Windows interface has forced some changes in script functionality, where practical Wozterm attempts to maintain backward compatibility with existing Ozterm 6 scripts.

Wozix

Wozix (Wozterm for Unix) is a command line version of Wozterm running the OVM script language as used in Wozterm. Wozix is suitable for the creation of robots interacting with telephone exchanges. As Wozix runs the OVM script language, scripts can be developed and debugged in Wozterm and then run in Wozix on a variety of platforms. Wozix is currently available for Windows, Linux, Solaris and HP-UX.

OVM library

This C++ library is available to incorporate into your application allowing integration of the OVM script language functionality. Developers requiring extensive telephone exchange interaction in their applications can incorporate this library providing a simple and robust telephone exchange interface while leveraging from existing OVM scripts.

Purpose

This User's Manual intends to provide a brief introduction to Wozterm.

Target Audience

This documentation is intended for existing users of Ozterm 6 to migrate to the new GUI found in Wozterm. In addition, this documentation in conjunction with the OVM Language Reference Guide provides an introduction for new users of the Wozterm program.

Scope

This document provides an explanation of the new features of Wozterm. It assumes that the user is familiar with the Ozterm Scripting Language, or is reading this material in association with the OVM Language Reference Guide.

Features of the new GUI are pictured and explained.

A brief walk-through of running a basic OVM script, performing a simple connection to an exchange and using Wozterm's new debugging features is provided.

This document does not currently contain information on Wozterm's COM interface. Wozterm is provided with a basic utility to test Wozterm's COM interface - Woztest - however this utility is not covered here.

Document Layout

Section 2 of this document provides a pictured overview of the new look of Ozterm. Brief descriptions of the programs main components are provided

Section 3 provides a more detailed description of each element of Wozterm.

Section 4 provides tutorials for Wozterm, to aid the user in the utilisation of current Wozterm functionality.

This document has adopted the syntax Menu[>submenu [>submenu] ]>menuitem to indicate the navigation of Wozterm's main menu and execution of the appropriate menu item.

Throughout this document numbered call-outs (circular) will be used to describe user interactive functionality - ie, a button, menu or scroll bar. Lettered call-outs (rectangular) will be used to describe non-interactive or summarised features of Wozterm. As can be seen in the example diagram below, Call-outs 1, 2 and 3 are pointing to interactive functionality, whereas Call-out A is pointing to non-interactive displays. Detailed descriptions of call-outs will be found in table format. This formatting distinguishes between diagram description and numbered steps found in tutorials (Section 4), which are not tabular.

Description

  1. Messages

The Messages tab is used by Wozterm for the display of debugging messages, NE communications and actions and Wozterm state information.

  1. Double-Click to goto Message in Script Editor

Double-clicking on a message that has reference to a script line number will result in Wozterm moving to that line number in the Script Editor pane. This is useful when compiling a script as it provides a fast way to move between compilation warnings and errors.

  1. Right-Click for Menu

By right-clicking in the display of the Messages tab, a WindowsT pop-up menu will appear. Currently, this menu only supports clearing the Messages tab. This is useful when syntactically debugging a script - many compilations may be required which create voluminous amounts of messages.

  1. Show Messages tab

By clicking on the Messages tab in the Multi-function pane, the Messages tab will be shown.
