<<<General Program Operation>>>
-------------------------------

The following is an explanation of the menu selections and data entry
procedures.

Menu Selections - Specific options can be selected by using TAB, Up
and Down Arrows or Hot Keys (first number or character
                  that is highlighted).

Go Normal Mode - This selection allows the user to temporarily exit the
script file for viewing print outs or accessing B Modules.

To return to the script file, enter ALT I and then Auto
                  Execute.

If you only want to view a printout enter "C" at the prompt
after selecting "Go Normal Mode". This will clear the window
giving the full screen to view printout.

General Input - In general, when prompted to input variables (eg SNB or DIP)
no entry will return the user to previous screen.

ESC - Accidentally entering the ESC key will exit the program.
The program can be reactivated by doing an ALT I then
                  an Auto Execute.

In the left hand column the program offers specific menus for detailed analyses.
The right column offers options that are repeated in all the menus of the left
column.

Exchange - Node Code : This option allows the user to log to a specific
exchange using a 4 alpha Node Code. The exchange is the AXE
switch to which the SiteLine service is connected.

If the FNN number is known, the Node Code can be obtained
from NICAD, as this would be the most reliable source. If it
is not available in NICAD, the Service Plus Remarks Field or
RASS could also contain the Exchange Node code.

If its not possible to determine from the record systems
which exchange a SiteLine service is provided from, the
B number analyses option in the Special Maintenance Menu can
be used to accomplish this. See section below for details.

Directory Nr - Services on PNB : As most SiteLine services will have an
Indial component there will be one number that all incoming
calls can be directed to. This number is usually the first
number of a hundred number range and will be the number the
FNN is based on. This means that if the DIP is not known one
can search the exchange using the directory number to obtain
what devices are utilised. This becomes particularly useful
for services that have number ranges split across more than
                  one DIP.

For SiteLine Services that have only o/g ccts the directory
number is the Control Point number on which FNN is based on.
The outcome of this search will be a list of SNT, DIP and
                  Device range.

The following are possible reasons that searching on the directory number
would not successfully identify the DIPs utilised.

i.	BT6 utilised - There is a small number of services that were initially
provisioned that used BT6 devices. For these services B number analyses
needs to be performed to first obtain the Route. Once the Route is
known, the route option on the Maintenance menu can be utilised to
	find the devices used.

ii.	Indial service FNN based on Control point Number - There is a small
number of services that have their FNN based on the Control Point.
Application of the B number analyses will obtain the true SNB. This
SNB number is then used as the directory number to find the devices
that are associated with the service.

iii.	Wrong Exchange - If for any reason the above two options have not been
able to locate the devices, a possibility exists that the wrong
exchange is being examined. To find the correct exchange, log in any
exchange and perform B number analyses on the FNN to identify the
	correct exchange.

Connect via DIP name - If the DIP is known the devices associated can be
located. The outcome of this search will be the SNT
and Devices utilised with the particular DIP. Using
this method will not identify multiple DIPs assigned
                          to the FNN.

Route name - connect via Route name : For services that are
utilising BT6 devices the Route name is used to
                          identify the devices used.

<<<Maintenance Menu>>>
----------------------

1 Display Device Status - This option will display the state of all the
devices on the selected DIP and defines the
possible states of the individual circuits.

This option will produce a sub-menu which gives
summary explanation of device states, blocked
states, fault states and ABS values.

2 Display DIP Status - Displays the state of the selected DIP and defines
                          the state.

3 Display DIP Quality - Will display the quality measurements for the
selected DIP. The print out will provide values
                          for :

BFFV - Bit Fault Frequency Value, a measure of the error rate on the 2Mbit/s
bearer in ppm( parts per million). A count greater than 20 in a 24
hour period will cause an A3 alarm. A count greater than 800 in a 24
hour period will cause a A2 alarm.

SFV - Slip Fault Value, is a measure of the number of slips that have
occurred in the SFTI time interval. The nominal limit is 5 slips in
       24 hours.

SFTI - Slip Fault Time interval, the time interval for which slips have been
       measured.

DFV - Disturbance Frequency Value, is the number of temporary disturbances
that have occurred in a DFTI time interval. The disturbances may be
frame loss, multiframe alignment, remote alarms, AIS etc. A count
greater than 4 in a 4 hour period will cause an A2 alarm.

DFTI - Disturbance Frequency Time Interval, the time interval for which the
       DFV value has been measured.

4 Display SNT Status - Displays the state of the selected SNT and defines
                       the state.

5 Disable/Initialise Services - This option enables the Blocking and
                                Initialising (deblocking) of exchange
devices. Selecting this option will prompt
the user to select whether they want to
select Devices, DIP or SNT for Disabling/
                                Initialising. The Disable/Initialise
function can be used to reset devices that
have possibly latched into an abnormal state.

<<<Special Maintenance Menu>>>

1 B number Analyses - The B number analyses offers the opportunity to trace
a number in the network to determine its destination.
In this program it will be used to determine the
Route when BT6 devices have been utilised, the SNB on
some SiteLine services that do not conform to the
current numbering scheme or locating the correct
                       exchange.

2 Channel Monitoring - Provides monitoring of selected devices (MONTI command).
Before selecting a devices you will be prompted to
setup a test position. There is also an option to view
                       the current test positions.

When exsiting from this sub menu, the test position
                       will be disabled.

                     - This displays the customer categories that are
                       associated with the particular service.

Standard SiteLine categories : TCL-12 or 13, OBA -20, OCG ?, LTE-1.
SiteLine/CVPN categories : OBA-10, OBA-12, TCL-12, TCL-9, TCL-2.
